Aluminium square bar

The aluminium square bar, also known as solid square bar, is widely used in machinery, electronics and instrumentation industries. This profile is known for its high strength, stability and versatile machinability. At Comhan, aluminium profiles are available from stock or can be customised.

Customised: premium quality and innovative

At Comhan, we supply high-quality, strong aluminium square bars in two alloys for structural applications. Choose a standard square bar or have a profile customised. These bars are easy to process and can be sawn, drilled, milled or welded. Entirely to your specifications, including any required processing options.

Applications and benefits at a glance

The aluminium square bar is a commonly used profile in load-bearing constructions and machine components. Thanks to its strength and wear resistance, it is ideal for CNC operations such as milling and turning. In façade construction, it is often used lifting anchors and adjustment anchors when installing façade cassettes and heavy glass façade elements on concrete floor slabs. The benefits:

  • High strength and stability
  • Versatile in use
  • Excellent machinability
  • Outstanding thermal and electrical conductivity
  • Resistant to low temperatures
  • Non-magnetic and non-toxic
  • 100% recyclable

FAQ

We're happy to help you personally, but you may already find the answer you're looking for here.

  • An aluminium square bar is a solid, square aluminium profile widely used in construction, industry and engineering. It is commonly used for load-bearing structures, machine building, façade installation and technical systems due to its high strength and stability.

  • Square bars are supplied in alloy EN AW-6060 (AlMgSi0.5) and EN AW-6082 (AlMgSi1). Smaller dimensions (for example 8 mm) are typically supplied in lengths of 6 metres. Larger dimensions are supplied in 3 metre lengths. Made-to-measure options are available upon request.

  • The EN AW-6060 alloy in temper T66 is known for its medium strength, good corrosion resistance, excellent anodisability and weldability (although some strength reduction may occur after welding). These properties make it a typical profile alloy with broad applicability.

  • The EN AW-6082 (AlSi1MgMn) alloy in temper T6 is well suited for heavy mechanical loads, offers good corrosion resistance, excellent machinability - suitable for milling, turning and sawing - and good weldability.

  • Yes, in the façade construction industry, aluminium square bars are widely used as lifting anchors and adjustment anchors for the installation and alignment of façade cassettes and heavy glass façade elements on concrete floor slabs.

  • Yes, aluminium is known for its excellent thermal and electrical conductivity, which makes it highly suitable for applications where heat dissipation or electrical conduction is required.

  • No, aluminium square bars are non-magnetic and non-toxic, making them safe for use in various industrial and technical applications.
